Writer's Workshop

Writing is a very important aspect in our classroom. Writer's Workshop is a technique that allows students to participate in a wide variety of writing tasks. The students are encouraged to develop their own topics while trying out different types of writing the teacher presents. Writer's Workshop usually begins with a mini-lesson from the teacher on a topic related to what the students are doing or may need review, help, or clarification on. The students are then given the opportunity to write while also engaging in dialogue with other students to help imporve their own writing as well as their classmates. The teacher walks around and conferences with individual students. The students are also allowed to share their writing with the rest of the class upon completion.
