About Miss Ryan

Background

In 2001, I received my B. A. from Webster University with a major in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach first through sixth grades. I graduated with my Masters of Arts in Teaching in Multidisciplinary Studies through Webster in May, 2004.

This will be my eighth year teaching at Bayless Intermediate. I have taught second, fifth, and sixth grades during that time. I have enjoyed working with the fabulous students, parents, and staff. Highlights of my career include being one of twenty-five teachers that served on the 2007 Scholastic Teacher Advisory Board and being named the 2006-2007 Bayless Intermediate Teacher of the Year. I am very excited to return to fifth grade during the 2008-2009 school year.

Philosophy of Teaching

Being a teacher is a rewarding experience. I have come to hold personal beliefs about teaching at the elementary grade level. I teach because I believe. I believe that I can make a difference to the future by producing individuals who are critical thinkers and responsible citizens. I also believe that every child is a unique individual. As a result, I provide my students with varying learning activities to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. Furthermore, I believe that students learn from each other. That is why, in my classroom, you will see students cooperating with one another to achieve common goals. As a teacher, I am responsible for increasing student achievement. I do this by creating learning activities with real world applications so that learning is meaningful for students. I also achieve this by providing a safe, positive, and student-centered environment. Finally, I believe that learning and education should be a memorable time. By instructing at the elementary grade level, I expect to provide my students with the most lasting, positive experience of their lives.
